“Can you fix it?” Edward asks.
“I expect so, yes” Rose replies, examining further.
“You expect so?” He's getting exasperated.
She turns to him. “Edward, my dear chap. I am not some plumber on a fifty quid call-out come to fix a leaky pipe. This is something entirely new, even for the Forest. There's going to be a certain amount of making it up as we go along.”
Fiona stands quietly through all of this, confused and alone. Slowly, she realises she's being watched. She turns to see two cats staring at her from the kitchen.
