The four of us, standing in a circle, holding hands, listening to Raven, desperately believing it would work.
“Slowly, the Weave is shrinking away,” Raven intoned. “The Warp is gaining ground, all around this place, and then we'll be free of this madness.”
Moments stretched, elongated and throbbed. It felt like the house was doing the same, but I didn't want to open my eyes for fear of breaking the moment. The air itself felt taught, pulled to its absolute breaking point and our whole world was holding its breath.
“Any minute now, and we'll snap free.”
