Fiona pauses, as if listening. “No,” she says, “You stay here, make sure Robert and Edward know. And keep those two distracted.”
“How will you find him?”
“I'm not sure, but this will help.” In her hand she's holding Raven's block. “And I think I'll have company who know the terrain.”
For the first time Mary notices both cats, crouched under the bed.
“Wish me luck,” Fiona says, pulling open the wardrobe door. The tunnel beyond flickers with gaslight.
“Good luck!”
Fiona steps into the wardrobe, cats close behind, taking on human form as they enter.
