“What happens if it does?” I asked.
“Right now it'll just burn you,” he replied. “We need more mirrors. And kitchen foil.”
I gave Rose the other mirror and headed for the kitchen. As I did, Oak crouched down in the path of a slow moving violet beam, angling his mirror to reflect it into the larger mirror by the chimney. “Be ready to reflect it back” I heard him shout.
In the hall I could hear mum and Fiona muttering upstairs, but couldn't make out what was being said.
I dashed into the kitchen, grabbed the foil from its draw and rushed back.
