I could see Dad was growing uneasy and restless as Mum and Oak bickered.
Kneeling beside him, I placed my hand on his arm. “Everything okay Dad?” I asked.
“Get them to pipe down for a moment,” he croaked. “Need to get my bearings.”
As I stood I shouted “Shut up!” as loud as I could. They both went quiet, Mum with shock as much as anything.
“Now,” I said, surprising myself as much as anyone, “Mum, you look after Dad. Mister Oak and myself will look for his bogeyman rainbow.”
I grabbed a mirror and started searching.
