Third Interlude - Part Six

“A what mind?” Ms Firnley inquires.

“Hive.”

“What on earth is that supposed to mean?”

“All these little heads,” Fox again gestures towards the children, “All working together, all with a single purpose, not even conscious of what they're doing.”

“What?”

“Like adding more processors to a computer, to make it faster. Something has a problem to solve, and it's using your class to solve it.”

“What do you mean something?”

“You know, something. The better question is how did they do it?”

“Well, how did they do it?”

“I don't know.”

“You don't know?”
“No. The internet, probably. Lately it seems the answer is always the internet.”
