“We will do no such thing,” Oak said, starting to rise from his
chair.
“SIT DOWN!” Raven shouted in response, the branch in his hands
pointed very firmly in Oak's direction.
“You cannot be serious,” Oak protested, settling back into his
chair. “Summoning the Council? On whose authority?”
“I couldn't be more serious,” Raven said coldly, “And I do so
under my own jurisdiction.”
“But...” Oak began, but Raven was having none of it.
“But nothing,” he snapped, “In case you've forgotten, I am the
Primary Agent here. I did not call for a Specialist, nor an
Authority, you both arrived here under your own steam and an
inability to not meddle. As the Primary Agent, I have gathered the
information I need to make a decision, and made a decision I have.
What's happened here is so new, so different, that it falls far
outside the Forest's established protocols. As a consequence, it is
my conclusion that the Council must be informed, consulted, before
any further action is taken.”
“On your head be it,” Oak replied, “This will not end well for
you.”
“What ever does?” Raven asked, turning to mum. “Mary, I am
sorry to say that what happens next may leave quite a mess.”
