Fiona feels herself floating on cushions of air, buoyed by unseen
currents through a sea of white light. Around her blue ribbons dance
and sail, tethered in the distance far beyond her gaze. Although
she's not sure, she thinks she can hear children giggling in the
distance, a sound that makes her unexpectedly happy. She reaches out
to touch one of the ribbons, but her fingers pass right through it,
blue light shimmering across her fingertips. Without thinking she
knows she must follow these ribbons to find their source. At first
she tries to paddle, grabbing at the air to push it behind her, but
the result is negligible and little headway is made.
“I'm going to have to swim,” she thinks, tipping herself forward
to paddle through the light.
